Dear Sire Nelson Mandela Madiba,

I am very grateful to be writing to you this very happy and sad day. Happy day, because it is your birthday. Happy birthday Sire. I know you are in the Heavens, celebrating with us and watching over us.

Sire, you are a hero, warrior and a legend. I appreciate how hard you worked during your time on earth. I read that, during your time on earth, you fought relentlessly for your fellow africans. I really admire that because in a world were we are deeply hated by all, you stood by us. It is with gratitude in my heart that I write today, because although it seems like all hope is lost, remembering your relentless fight for freedom for your people still gives me comfort in my heart.

I know you are up in the Heavens, watching all that is happening. Please, do not be sad that our white friends still hate us. I promise you, we are doing all that we can to survive the traumas  they have put us through.

Not to make you sad any further, your fellow africans are still holding on to the thread of hope. Please, enjoy your day. I hope all the angels and saints in Heaven rejoice with you on this very special day as we, here on earth, celebrate you.
